Elgin Street reopens to two-way traffic between Catherine and Nepean streets Friday after almost an almost four-month closure to add sidewalks and parking bays, plant trees and put in places to sit and a final layer of asphalt.
The Elgin Street renewal project has been a long haul but city hall said it’s on schedule to be finished in October.
The final touches include new public art, and more street furniture and trees.
That section of Elgin Street has been closed to northbound traffic since March 30.
OC Transpo routes 5, 14 and 114, which were detoured during construction, will be back on Elgin Street Friday.
