Rent, the beloved, award-winning Broadway musical, will come to the National Arts Centre in late October.
The 20th anniversary touring production of the rock musical will play the NAC Oct. 22 to 27.
Loosely based on the Puccini opera La Bohème, Jonathan Larson’s uplifting musical follows the lives of struggling young artists in Lower Manhattan’s East Village, living under the shadow of HIV and AIDS. Rent won the 1996 Tony Award for best musical as well as the Pulitzer Prize for drama. The musical played a 12-year run on Broadway in New York.
Tickets are to go on sale Aug. 19 at 10 a.m., at the NAC box office and online at ticketmaster.ca. They may also be purchased by calling 1-855-985-2787. Groups of 10 or more may order tickets by calling 1-800-889-8457.
