Each year, the fundraiser says it must raise 40 per cent of its operating costs so fundraising events are important for the organization to continue to provide end-of-life care in Ottawa.about an hour ago By: Dani-Elle Dubé
Homes for the Holidays, a fundraiser for Hospice Care Ottawa, is moving online this year.
Much like other events in the city, the fundraiser — which has been around since 2003 — had to move online because of COVID-19.
This event was an annual tradition where ticket holders could walk through Ottawa homes that are decorated for the holiday season by local florists.
The funds raised at the event goes towards supporting the hospice and end-of-life care programming in Ottawa.
“With COVID-19 we could not have our traditional home tour, however thanks to homeowners, florists and volunteers who rallied together, the event continues, just virtually,” a statement from Homes for Holidays explained in a statement. “We are not ‘selling tickets’ for the event, rather, with a donation we will send the participant a special Virtual Homes for the Holidays tour link where they will have the opportunity to view the homes and décor from the comfort of their own home.”
