Two recent Juno winners — the Afro-Cuban jazz group OKAN and ferocious instrumentalists The Fretless — plus a musical murder-mystery ensemble from Montreal called Infusion Baroque are among the boundary-pushing artists coming to Ottawa this summer to perform in-person shows during a hybrid edition of Chamberfest, set for July 22-Aug. 4.
Those artists are part of the festival’s Chamberfringe series of concerts, to be presented outdoors on the plaza of Club SAW, one of six new chunks of programming announced this week. The extra content adds to the festival’s marquis performances by superstar Canadian artists such as operatic soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian and the New Orford String Quartet that were revealed last month.
